\"\"Alicia Kaplan (Actress, Dancer, Director, Choreographer, Teaching Artist, Producing Artistic Director, Cultural Activist) Alicia is a performer who began acting and dancing at the age of six in Caracas, Venezuela.\u00a0 Studying ballet with Matlinsky, Lidija Franklin, Nina Novak and Ruth Antonofsky, she participated in various productions at el Teatro Municipal de Venezuela, el Ateneo, the Caracas Theatre Club, and on television. \u00a0 Alicia studied dance in New York with Maria Swoboda, Luigi, and Merce Cunningham and acting under the. guidance of Uta Hagen, and with Sonia Moore at the Stanislavski Center for Performing Arts. Her acting debut in New York was in the world premiere of Venezuelan playwright Roman Chalbaud\u2019s Terrible Angels at the Henry Street Playhouse. Alicia has performed in the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and Spain in more than 260 productions, including television series, films, television series, theatre, commercials, and broadcasting. Alicia has directed 55 plays, including comedies, dramas, musicals, and performance pieces with multi-generational participants. Alicia is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of\u00a0Danisarte<\/em>, now in its 28th \u00a0year.\u00a0\u00a0In 2016 Danisarte<\/em>\u00a0toured Risaralda, Colombia invited by the Governor of that district, with \u201cSoliluna: \u00a0a magical voyage thru 5 continents\u201d, a bilingual multi-media performance piece which she created, directed and acted in. \u201cSoliluna\u2026\u201d toured throughout NYC, was featured at the \u201cEncuentro Cultural\u201d by the Antonio Montes cultural entity in Malaga, Spain, and also was part of the International Theatre Festival in Caguas, Puerto Rico in 2019.\u00a0 In 2020\u00a0Danisarte<\/em>\u00a0became the first theatrical company to produce a virtual theatrical festival entitled \u201cLorca Lives\/Lorca Vive\u201d during the worldwide pandemic. During 2021, 2022, & 2023 Danisarte presented several exciting festivals featuring poetry, music, original one act plays, and commissions based on Lorca\u2019s poetry and plays at La Nacional in New York City.\u00a0 In 2023\u00a0 Danisarte also presented \u201cSoliluna: a magical voyage through five continents\u201d in a tour thru the five boroughs of New York.\u00a0 \u00a0Alicia\u00a0 is the Producer, Director, & Bilingual Broadcaster and Presenter on the Youtube channel akDanisarte.\u00a0 Since 2023 she is also the Foreign Correspondent for the Argentine Channels of Alba Grismado.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
