His eyes speaking warm sincerity as he introduced himself as one of the producers of La Cage. I don\u2019t remember his exact words or what silly thing I might have said in reply. But I\u2019ll never forget the moment Fritz Holt invited me to be part of the La Cage family.<\/p>\n<p>Fritz began his career as a stage manager at Mineola Playhouse in New York. After working with Hal Prince, producing a series of flops, he landed on top with the Tony winning La Cage Aux Folles.<\/p>\n<p>In 1983 he directed two benefit performances:\u00a0<em>Best of the Best<\/em>, an all star benefit for AIDS victims at Metropolitan Opera in New York and <em>Happy Birthday Mr. Abbott<\/em>, George Abbott\u2019s hundredth birthday celebration for The Actors Fund. He was also a main contributor along with Reverend Mead Miner Bailey in establishing Bailey-Holt House, providing housing and support for those suffering from HIV\/AIDS in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>That infectious grin, his caring heart, his amazing talent &#8211; Fritz Holt.
