\tPATRICK MCCARTHY is a performer, director and playwright who has worked on stage, regionally, nationally, internationally, on TV and film. From the <\/em>Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, to <\/span>Chicago\u2019s Free Shakespeare Co, to Instant Shakespeare, and Actor\u2019s Shakespeare Company, he has trod the Bardic boards. At the Little Theatre on the Square in Sullivan, Illinois, he received his AEA card, and has acted, directed and been commissioned as a playwright as well. Most fitfully, since he has played old men since he was first on stage at 17, he has appeared as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, countless times, in the U.S. and Europe. Besides his \u201cseat of the pants\u201d training in community theatre, he studied at the Valley Studio in Spring Green, WIS with Reid Gilbert, Tom Leabhart, William Burdick, Carlo Mazzone Clementi, Mamako Yoneyama, Hovey Burgess, Judy Burgess, Barbara Leigh & Rosalie Jones; in Chicago with James O\u2019Reilly, Victor D\u2019Altorio and Vince Lonergan, as well as Eloise Watts\u2019 Shakespeare Workout at Michael Howard Studios in NYC. Shakespearean roles include Parolles in All\u2019s Well That Ends Well; Cornwall in King Lear; Antonios in Much Ado [3x] and Twelfth Night; Friar Laurence in Romeo & Juliet [2x]; Quince in Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream; Polonius in Hamlet; Aragon, the Duke, Old Gobbo in The Merchant of Venice; Francisco in The Tempest; and Canterbury \/ FrenchKing \/ <\/span>Bardolph \/ <\/span>Erpingham in Henry V. Other featured roles include Leslie in Seascape; Jack in The Weir; Meadle in Quartermaine\u2019s Terms; Dad in The Sum of Us; Cladwell in URINETOWN; Ruth in PIRATES of PENZANCE; Pickering in MY FAIR LADY [2x] ; Whitney in ANYTHING GOES [2x]; Doctor Colonel in GRAND HOTEL; Crisparkle in DROOD; Cocky in ROAR of the GREASEPAINT; and Male Authority Figure in HAIRSPRAY. He has written over a dozen plays and musicals as ptmc, taught high school English and theatre, was cast as Artistic Director of Waukesha [WIS] Civic Theatre and Chicago\u2019s HealthWorks Theater. He also serves as participating co-founder & consultant to Killington [Vermont] Shakespeare Retreat [2000-2024+] and as an award winning playwright, he recently secured a Vermont Studio Center writing fellowship. He is an active member of AEA, SAG\/AFTRA, & Dramatists Guild. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of DO40, Dancers Over 40, and as Literary Manager, ALL OUT ARTS, Curator, Developmental Reading Series.
