The ballet was commissioned by Batsheva Dance Company for this occasion. It was soon after staged on Peridance Contemporary Dance Company for its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/performingartslegacy.org\/perryigal\/bolero-1984\/\" rel=\"noopener\">1986 inaugural New York season<\/a> at the Riverside Dance Festival, and for numerous companies around the world.
