{"id":468,"date":"1965-11-25T13:10:52","date_gmt":"1965-11-25T18:10:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/performingartslegacy.org\/wing\/?p=468"},"modified":"2020-06-25T15:16:21","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T19:16:21","slug":"guerlain-perfume-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/performingartslegacy.org\/wing\/guerlain-perfume-ad\/","title":{"rendered":"Mitsouko by Guerlain Perfume Ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1965, Mel Sokolsky, inspired, I was told, by one of the Breck ads that he&#8217;d shot of another model and me in profile, created this Mitsouko Perfume by Guerlain ad, which won awards internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The photo itself was so striking that it was used illegally internationally. \u00a0A friend brought a poster and matchbook cover back from South America where a beauty spa had used the picture to advertise their services. \u00a0I saw it used in a picture frame from Germany on sale in a department store. \u00a0It was quite famous in the 60s and, unfortunately, the picture was used by businesses who had no rights to do so.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_699\" style=\"width: 766px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-699\" class=\"size-full wp-image-699\" src=\"https:\/\/performingartslegacy.org\/wing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/1965\/11\/36-1965-Mitsouko-for-Guerlain-Print-Ad.jpg\" alt=\"Mitsouko by Guerlain Perfume Ad. Photo by Mel Sokolsky<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On the shoot was Mel Sokolsky&#8217;s very nice and efficient assistant who I called &#8220;Alice.&#8221; \u00a0As his assistant she made sure I was comfortable, brought me coffee, got me to the hair and makeup people, etc., etc. \u00a0Quite soon thereafter I would be surprised to see her on the silver screen, and her name was not Alice; it was Ali. \u00a0As in Ali MacGraw! \u00a0She was starring in &#8220;Goodbye Columbus,&#8221; soon followed by \u00a0&#8220;Love Story,&#8221; and thereafter became a major star and an icon of the 60s!<\/p>\n<p>I think the ad was stunning and am proud to have taken a part in it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1965, Mel Sokolsky, inspired, I was told, by one of the Breck ads that he&#8217;d shot of another model and me in profile, created this Mitsouko Perfume by Guerlain ad, which won awards internationally.
