| Notes / Anecdotes | Bandstand Matinee was a daily Chicago teen dance show hosted by Jim Lounsbury and was Chicago version of Dick Clark's American Bandstand. Pop singers promoting their latest record release were guests and would sometimes lip sync to their hit song.
Teens representing various high schools in the city were on the show and in a daily dance contest, competed for prizes and a chance to be in the final monthly contest. My dance partner and I won several times. The prizes were usually cases of Pepsi Cola (delivered to your home) and L.P. Records. Some of the top dance hits of the day were “Rock Around The Clock” & "Shake, Rattle & Roll" recorded by Bill Haley & The Comets. "Good Golly Miss Molly" by Little Richard "At My Front Door" by the El Dorados and "Maybelline" by Chuck Berry. It was the 50's, we all had a lot of energy and were rarin' to go........... LOL !!!
