Notes / Anecdotes | We were certainly an unusual group of women in the country. I was not as diverse as it is now. Oz directed us to perform the poems with a great amount of love, not anger or hurt, I translated so weak over there. The message is universal and inclusive. The tour was very successful. I took a dozen SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK album number one with me and gave them away! |
Reflections / Significant Moments | An absolutely mind blowing life changing event. For all of us. Traveling such a long way. Representing in so many ways ! Black writers, Women writers, Late 70s poetry, Black Women, Acting, point of view. This was an eye opener for the people of OZ. And for us. Beautiful experience. Challenging for me as an actress. I had a hard moment remembering my lines. OZ took a moment to see how I was and I told him I was scared. His understanding and insight helped me get thru the opening and the character evolved from there. |
