During the run of CAMELOT, the Star who was doing Queen Guinevere had to suddenly be taken to the hospital. The whole company was called and we gathered together at about 5 pm for a company meeting. It was announced that I was to go on for the Queen with book in hand, if an appropriate cover couldn’t be found. No one had advised me of this possibility. I almost fainted. I remember hearing my heart racing.
Fortunately, I didn’t have to go on. A suitable alternate was found and she was quickly wardrobed and guided around the stage ( in the round, mind you!) during the performance.
