George was director of the Clinton Hill Society Subway Art Project, which was in development from 1998 to 2001, with the purpose of featuring community artists in the Clinton/Washington Station.

An article about the launch of the Clinton Hill Society Subway Art Project appeared in the New York Times on October 4, 2001, just weeks after the attacks of September 11th. The art has remained in the station ever since, despite MTA remarks that it could be “taken down” should it offend anyone. The realization of the Clinton Hill Society Subway Art Project is a great source of pride for George.
