“Wild Swans,” which was based on the international best-selling novel of the same name by Jung Chang, was a great show to do, especially in London at the Young Vic. They looked internationally to cast this show and wound up with nine American and six British actors. A great theatre company, the Young Vic took care of us all through a long and difficult rehearsal process, and a run that included Boston and London, over three-and-a-half months, from winter to spring. We all, I think, had a great time through it all, and became close.

The show was spectacular, with fifteen actors, and as many, and more, chorus members to play various characters throughout the show, who were recruited in Boston for the Boston show, and in London for the Young Vic show. There was a flexible and mobile set, and videos of Chinese scenes that ran continuously in spots, and a stage, in London, that was flooded with a rice paddy video behind it for a panoramic effect, and then drained in very short time for the next scene.

The production was terrific, but the experience was even better. One of the best.
