Juan Villareal (1936 – 2024)
A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Juan Villarreal had an extensive career in theater, film, television, and other performing arts. Throughout his long career he received several accolades, among which are the Hispanic Magazine Awards. ACE (Asociacion de Cronistas de Espectaculos de Nueva York) honored him, as well as ATI (Artistas Teatro Independiente). Juan started his U.S. legacy at Repertorio Español Theater, his Alma Mater.
As an actor, he appeared in Theater, TV, audio-books, graphic pieces, dubbing and TV commercials. On the big screen Juan worked with Michael Keane, Morgan Freeman, and Javier Cámara. He was also featured with entertainers and icons such as Sara Montiel and Dolores del Rio.
Juan was not only a performer, but a supporter of performing arts. He was one of the Founding members of Teatro Círculo where he worked for the last decade. Juan’s work and effort spans across countries, where he had the opportunity of touring Europe, Mexico, and Russia. He was acclaimed by the Opera News for his virtuoso performance at Piazzola’s María de Buenos Aires. Further, Juan became the official voice in Michael Bloomberg’s mayoral NY campaign.
