La Brujita que era Buena

On the stage, new opportunities and new talents are tested. For Juan, performing in La Brujita que era Buena meant working on his singing skills. The performance was a hit with everything working out perfectly. Not only did Juan add singing to his list of talents, he had fun doing it.

Maria de Buenos Aires

This performance brought about a new first for Juan. Taking on the role as El Duende for this Little Opera meant learning to read music. This was something he had never done making the thought of doing it frightening. Each word must be exact to the music, not too fast, not too slow. In the end Juan was successful and Maria de Buenos Aires really spearheaded his career, opening new doors for acting.

La Vida Inesperada

The process of auditioning for the role of Claudio, is an unforgettable one and a first. After being invited to an audition, Juan didn’t think much of the role as there wasn’t much detail in who was part of the performance. After being called back for a second audition, he had a conversation with the gentlemen, who turned out to be the director. Juan was asked to join them and Javier Cámara for lunch, which he accepted. After seeing the professional chemistry between the two actors, it was decided that he would play the role. The process and the outcome was something to be remembered.

Entremeses de Cervantes

During the Siglo de Oro, short plays or “entremeses” became common. These were quick 15-20 minute performances that can be done anywhere and anytime. In the mid and late 90’s, José Cheo Oliveras decided to reproduce an entremeses. It was so well received that other theater’s began to proposition him for more performances. Juan had taken part in the original performance, and after 2 more short plays were added, he began performing these entremeses throughout New York City, Spain, France, and then Russia. The demand for the short play was a first time experience for Juan which moved him across continents.

Erendira & Nelson II Rodriguez

During his time at the Spanish Repertory Theater, Juan play in both Erendira & Nelson II Rodriguez. Both performances, the cast, costume, and all that goes into a performance was outstanding.
